Auditing ProcessAuditing process involves an audit team assessing how effectively a management system is working. In essence the audit process will determine the extent to which the organization is managed in accordance with the chosen audit criteria contained in standards. It is important to recognize that an audit is not an inspection. The auditor is not trying to “catch-out” personnel doing the wrong thing. Rather, the audit process will see if problems – real and potential – are being identified and managed effectively. For the audit to be successful, your management team should ensure that all personnel know when the audit is scheduled to take place, the purpose of the audit and what is expected of them. For example, personnel need to have documentation available for the auditors, consider how their systems comply with the audit standards and criteria, and organize interviews with the auditors. Health Audit NZ Ltd will provide you with an itinerary / audit plan containing a timetable for the audit and indicating (in matrix format) which standards and criteria will be audited by which auditor. Your management team will need to appoint an “auditor guide” to support the auditors through each day on site. The audit team will need access to a private room for interviews, to a telephone and photocopier and to your organizational documentation such as policies, procedures and records. Consideration should also be given to providing light refreshments to the audit team during their time on site. Your personnel may also wish to know more about your auditors - click here.
